Aerial Equipment Contact: No Imminent Danger

Fire Ladder Power LineIf your aerial equipment comes into contact with a power line and there is no fire or other imminent danger, take the following steps:

  • Stay on the vehicle.
  • Call the utility company.
  • Warn others away. People on the ground are in the greatest danger when equipment hits a line.
  • Move the equipment away from the line if it is safe to do so.
  • If you cannot safely move the equipment, stay put until the line is de-energized.
